You have 12 points left to spend somewhere.
Options are:

Alternately you can get better
Strength totem
Imp Shields
Elemental Weapons
Thundering strikes

yeah those are all valuable. Although the 3 in shields is only useful if your main focus is the main tank, other than that its useful for the water orbs butI prefer the water shield from resto tree.

PostSubject: Haste gems...   Shaman resto spec EmptyWed Dec 09, 2009 8:53 am

Ty asked me about one Shaman that stacked haste gems. So I wondered what was new...

In a nutshell according to Elitistjerks.com (http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t24796-shaman_restoration/)

The soft haste cap for resto shamans is 1269 haste rating (38.7%).

Default Values
Spell Power 1.0
Mp5 1.0
Intellect 0.6
Haste rating 1.5
Crit rating 0.8

So Haste turns out to be the best investement according to math...

Still I got a feeling it is also about how you play the game. And I just heal based on slower bigger numbers rather then on small fast ones... But if we think we should go haste I am willing to think things over and see what it means if I start gemming for haste in terms of loosing spellpower and intellect...

Been playing with the numbers for me and found the following numbers:

Spellpower
Gems : 25 + 12 + 15 + 19 + 23 + 12 = 106
Bonus : 5 + 9 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 29
Worst case: 135 sp

mp5
Gems : 5 + 5 + 8 + 5 + 8 + 5 = 31
Bonus : 4 + 2 = 6
Worst case: 37 mp5

Intellect
Gems : 16 + 10 + 16 = 42

Haste
11 gems times 20 haste.

Without any boosts
I loose 5,1% spellpower.
I loose 6,2% mp5.
I loose 3,0% intellect (so some spellpower and mp5 aswell).
BUT!!!!! I gain 94,4% haste...

Hmmm... What to do, what to do....

So in actualy fact you would loose very little and gain a lot of haste.

But then again whatever you would loose wouldnt be a difference really:

Loss of spell power would be fine with because you cast a faster spell.
Mp5 wouldnt be needed so much if you have a high enough crit lvl from riptide.
Intellect is the only loss I can see because you would have less mana to play with and less crit from INT.

Well more or less... Been reading further and the best gemming is:

Red: [Reckless Ametrine] => spell + haste
Yellow: [Quick King's Amber] => haste
Blue: [Quick King's Amber] unless you need to meet the meta gem requirements. Then use [Energized Eye of Zul] => haste + mp5

Unfoprtunately Iv again being wrong with my shaman, this will be costly.

Atm my shammy stands at 971 haste, currently around 29% haste rating.

What it needs to be is 38.7% which is 1269 haste,

Bearing in mind 5% from WoA and swift retribution aura, (3%).

So only 30%.

Regemming is in order then.

your joking right. reGemming for that small %. not gonna be that big of deal. If you get some more 264 upgrades you'll be on it soon enough. Thought we agreed it was a bit overrated. Razz
